Michel Knott, CFE, CPA
Michel started his accounting career with the firm in 2007. It was here he learned financial auditing for Tribal governments and their enterprises. As a senior staff auditor, he started leading single audits of governments, financial audits of enterprises, internal audits, defined contribution employee benefit plan audits, and agreed-upon procedures engagements.
In 2009, Michel left the firm to continue public accounting for regional and national accounting firms. While continuing to perform audits for Tribal governments and their enterprises, he added expertise in auditing financial service companies, petroleum companies, and State governments. He gained more experience and responsibilities with these firms and was promoted to audit manager.
Next, Michel decided to gain accounting experience as a private accountant for a State component unit in the insurance industry. He learned a new unique basis of accounting, gained experience developing an Enterprise Risk Management program and founded an accounting practice on the side. As President and Director of the accounting practice, he helped Tribal governments with indirect costs proposals and outsourced Chief Financial Officer services in addition to performing tax services for local businesses and individuals.
Michel rejoined the firm as an audit manager in 2017. With over 10 years of experience, he now manages financial audits of Tribal governments and their enterprises and helps in mentoring our staff and performing various training sessions.
