Teaching Points – Internal Audit Symposium: Best Practices for Today’s Casino Internal Auditor

The role of the internal auditor in Tribal gaming is evolving and maturing with the industry. The quality of the internal audit function is more important than ever and simply meeting the MICS is no longer enough. This class will give the internal audit department the tools they need to protect Tribal assets and uncover fraud.

The areas subject to audit are numerous; however, the majority of audit risks exist in the gaming machine department, the accounts payable function, and payroll. These departments generate the most revenue and expense in the Casino and must be audited properly to protect Tribal assets.

This class will review the details of Class II and Class III machine auditing procedures, large and small. This course will leave you with a solid understanding of internal audit best practices. Not only do we cover the audit steps necessary, we discuss the auditing standards, how to select the proper sample, and how to prepare internal audit reports with recommendations that work.
