Teaching Points – Title 31:

This course will cover a brief overview and history of the Title 31 regulations, developments and changes in regulations, current industry hot topics, red flags, and areas of current internal and external risk relating to compliance with the regulations. This session will then take attendees into the significant components of compliance associated with the regulations. The speakers will discuss the key elements required to design an effective compliance program including development of a compliance risk profile, determining an employee training framework, data accumulation, CTR reporting, SAR reporting, source of funds requirements, and audit requirements (internal, external, and IRS examination).

The morning session will be followed by an afternoon roundtable where attendees can ask questions and discuss issues amongst their peers.

Teaching Points – Advanced Internal Audit:

The role of the internal auditor in Tribal gaming is evolving and maturing with the industry. The quality of the internal audit function is more important than ever and simply meeting the MICS is no longer enough. This class will give the internal audit department the tools they need to protect Tribal assets uncover fraud.

The areas subject to audit are numerous; however, the majority of audit risks exist in the gaming machine department, the accounts payable function, and payroll. These departments generate the most revenue and expense in the Casino and must be audited properly to protect Tribal assets.

This class will review the details of Class II and Class III machine auditing procedures, large and small, and will leave you with a solid understanding of internal audit best practices. Not only do we cover the audit steps necessary, we discuss the auditing standards, how to select the proper sample, and how to prepare internal audit reports with recommendations that work.
